Planning your next commercial project?
Where 100+ Years of History
Meets Modern Construction
LeMarchand Mansion | Edmonton, Alberta | Commercial Construction | 25,000 sq. ft.
Some projects require more than construction experience. They require a team capable of understanding what needs to be preserved, what needs to be rebuilt, and how dozens of complex pieces come together without compromising the final vision.
At LeMarchand Mansion, Rescom helped transform a historic Edmonton property into a modern commercial development—preserving its architectural character while preparing it for another generation of use.

Preserving the Past While Building for What Comes Next
The project brought together two very different construction challenges: restore a century-old historic building while constructing a contemporary office addition alongside it.
Rather than allowing the new development to compete with the original mansion, the project carefully integrates modern architecture with the existing heritage masonry—creating a property where old and new feel intentionally connected.

Building Below a 100+
Year-Old Structure
Before the transformation could happen above ground, significant work had to happen below it.
The existing structure required full underpinning to safely support the building while excavation was completed for a new underground parkade.
It was the kind of construction where sequencing, coordination and careful execution mattered at every stage—because new construction had to move forward while the historic structure above was protected.

Restoring a Building That Had
Already Stood for a Century
Working with an existing heritage building means conditions aren't always predictable.
Extensive structural repairs were required throughout LeMarchand Mansion to stabilize the original structure and prepare it for its new use.
Original brick and architectural elements were preserved wherever possible, allowing the character and history of the building to remain visible alongside the precision of the new construction.

Bringing a Heritage Building Up to Modern Standards
Preserving history didn't mean accepting century-old performance.
The building required new mechanical, electrical, automation and fire-protection systems to meet the expectations of a modern commercial workplace.
Integrating those systems within an existing historic structure required careful coordination between trades, consultants and the construction team—modernizing what happens behind the walls without losing what made the building worth preserving in the first place.

Old and New. Built to Work as One.
Alongside the restoration, Rescom constructed a new low-rise office addition characterized by expansive glazing and contemporary detailing.
Inside, modern offices, collaborative areas, executive spaces and amenities contrast beautifully with exposed heritage brick and restored architectural elements.
The finished development doesn't hide the differences between old and new. It makes those differences part of what makes the building remarkable.

Complex Construction Requires the Right Team
LeMarchand Mansion brought together heritage restoration, structural rehabilitation, underpinning, excavation, underground construction, new commercial construction, and building-system modernization within one coordinated project.
Projects with this many moving parts require more than individual trades completing individual scopes. They require a construction partner capable of seeing the entire project, anticipating what comes next, and working collaboratively to move it forward.
That's where Rescom comes in.
